We believe that our community can work together with business and government to protect this endangered bushland and deliver positive sustainable urban redevelopment solutions that will inspire, educate and lead communities throughout Australia.
Three exciting projects represent our main proposals for saving this magnificent bushland corridor and initiating genuinely sustainable urban redevelopment in our city……
1."Habitat@McCubbin Walk" - located around 1 Lake Road, Blackburn Lake will save and regenerate some of Melbourne's most significant urban bushland. Using the latest multimedia technology visitors can take in the important cultural and environmental values of this landscape........and interact in a range of ways.
2. “NEO – Nunawading Emissions Offset - Pilot Project” based on redefing the Melbourne 2030 Activity Centre as a leading example of sustainable urban redevelopment.
3. "Sustainable Living Centre" located in the existing buildings at 131-169 Central Road, Nunawading adjoining Blackburn Lake Sanctuary. This project aims to protect some of Victoria's rarest 'Valley Heathy Forest" bushland and create a community facility for sustainable education to compliment the Blackburn Lake Sanctuary.
This is a truly rare opportunity for us all to protect some of Melbourne's most significant urban bushland and action some genuinely innovative sustainable urban redevelopment.
BLEEP is made up of a cross section of community members from Melbourne's Eastern suburbs. We have no political affiliations or hidden agendas our aim is simply to provide positive solutions for all stakeholders that will protect our flora, fauna and green space so that we develop our city in a sustainable way.
All our work is done on a voluntary basis by "time poor" community members so we welcome any assistance or ideas that you may wish to offer. At the moment we are looking for help with letter drops, petition signing etc.
Currently we are demonstrating to all our elected government representatives the level of community concern for this valuable bush and parkland. Please register your support for these exciting projects by signing our on line petition.
Please think about how your experience and network of associates may help make these projects a reality and contact us with your ideas.
